This is the largest park in North America, spanning 13.2 million acres of spectacular rock, snow and ice. Home to 9 of the 16 tallest peaks in North America, including 19,500 foot  Mt. Logan, which is classed as the worlds largest mountain massif in the world. Its sheer relief surpasses Himalayan proportions. This is where McCarthy Air and Wrangell Mountain Air have called home for decades.

LOCATION

Wrangell St. Elias National Park located in south-central Alaska, encompasses an area from the coast of the Gulf of Alaska to 160 miles north.  The eastern border is formed by the boundary between Canada and the United States and the Copper River forms part of the park's western border, along with the towering mountains of the Chugach Range.



 

WILDLIFE

The land offers more than dramatic scenery, it is rich in wildlife, including moose, caribou, brown and black bear, wolves, wolverines, mountain goats, and the largest specimen of Dall Sheep known.  The coast line from Yakutat Bay to Prince William Sound is an important habitat for bald eagles, harbor seals, sea otters, sea lions and is notable for large bird populations migrating along the coast.
